TxABA Executive Council

The TxABA Executive Council (EC) is the governing body of TxABA. The EC consists of voting officers and non-voting representatives; all officers are required to be voting members of TxABA. The voting officers include the President-Elect, President, Past-President, at least three At-Large Representatives, and the Senior Student Representative. Non-voting members include the Executive Director, the Secretary-Treasurer, and the Junior Student Representative.

President

Berenice de la Cruz PhD., BCBA-D, LBA

Berenice de la Cruz, Ph.D., BCBA-D, LBA has been a BCBA since 2006 and has worked with children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities since 2001 in school, home, clinic, and community settings as a teacher, therapists, supervisor, director, and professor. She received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in Special Education, specializing in Autism and Developmental Disabilities and her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from The University of Texas at El Paso. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor and inaugural Program Coordinator for the Applied Behavior Analysis Program at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Dr. de la Cruz has served as the Treasurer of TxABA Public Policy Group since 2019 and was an advisory board member since 2016. Her research and practice focus primarily on advocacy, ethics, and evaluating the application of ABA when used by parents, teachers, and other professionals to support individuals with developmental disabilities in the home, school, and community. Dr. de la Cruz has published several peer-reviewed research articles and co-authored several book chapters in fields of developmental disabilities, addictive behaviors, and social cognition. She regularly presents in English and Spanish at local, state, and national/international conferences. Dr. de la Cruz has served on the TxABA Executive Council since 2021. Dr. de la Cruz resides in San Antonio, Texas with her husband and their two children.


President-elect

Janet Sanchez Enriquez PhD, BCBA-D, LBA

Janet Sanchez Enriquez, PhD, BCBA-D, LBA, is a bilingual behavior analyst, educator, and researcher dedicated to advancing equitable and culturally responsive applications of behavior analysis. She earned her PhD from the University of North Carolina Charlotte as an OSEP scholar under the mentorship of Dr. Rob Pennington. Her work focuses on expanding access to behavior analytic services among vulnerable and diverse populations, with an emphasis on developing culturally and linguistically appropriate verbal behavior assessments and interventions. She currently serves as Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development for Special Education in a Texas public school district, where she leads systems-level initiatives to strengthen instructional practices, professional learning, and outcomes for students with disabilities. Dr. Sanchez Enriquez is a founding member and current Secretary of the Mexican Organization of Practitioners of Applied Behavior Analysis (OMPAC). She serves as Vice President of the World Behavior Analysis Day Alliance, Board Member and Newsletter Editor for the Verbal Behavior Special Interest Group, and is a member of the Executive Council for the Texas Association for Behavior Analysis. She also co-hosts the World Behavior Analysis Day Podcast, a global platform for highlighting impactful voices in the field. In addition to her leadership roles, she serves as adjunct faculty in graduate Applied Behavior Analysis programs at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, Texas A&M University, and the University of North Carolina Charlotte, where she mentors future behavior analysts in ethical and culturally responsive practice. Her work spans clinical, educational, and telehealth settings and has been supported by a SABA Public Awareness Grant to develop bilingual ABA resources for Latin American communities.


Council Member

Morgan Nichols BCBA, LBA, LPC

Morgan Nichols has been actively involved in the field of special education since 2009, working with individuals across various developmental disabilities. Currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, she focuses on Special Education and Child Development, expecting to graduate in May 2025. Morgan's experience includes roles as a special education teacher, counselor, and supervisor in diverse settings such as schools, homes, clinics, hospitals, group homes, and communities. A member of the TxABA since 2017, Morgan holds certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), where her work primarily involves implementing and overseeing behavior analytic interventions for ages 3-30. Additionally, as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), she offers comprehensive support through diverse therapeutic models. Her background as a Special Education teacher has equipped her with practical insights into managing classroom dynamics and addressing a wide range of student needs effectively.

Samantha Bergmann PhD, BCBA-D, LBA

Samantha (Sam) Bergmann earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2011. In 2013, she graduated with an M.A. in behavior analysis from Western Michigan University under the advisement of Dr. Richard Malott. She became a Board Certified Behavior analyst in 2013. In 2018, she received a Ph.D. in psychology with a concentration in behavior analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under the advisement of Dr. Tiffany Kodak. She joined the faculty in the Department of Behavior Analysis at University of North Texas as a newly minted Ph.D. in 2018, and is currently an assistant professor. Dr. Bergmann co-directs the Training and Research: Autism Intervention Laboratory housed in the UNT Kristin Farmer Autism Center. Dr. Bergmann directs a small caseload through the lab and provides mentorship and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students interested in applied behavior analysis, early intervention, and research within service delivery. Her research interests include procedural fidelity/staff training, skill acquisition, stimulus control, and verbal behavior. Dr. Bergmann has presented at state, regional, and national conferences. Along with her mentors and students, she has co-authored multiple chapters in edited handbooks and published research in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, Behavior Analysis in Practice, and The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. Dr. Bergmann is currently an associate editor for Behavior Analysis in Practice and is on the editorial board for Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. Dr. Bergmann has served TxABA as ACE Coordinator, a member of the Program Committee, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Conference Track Coordinator. Dr. Bergmann lives in Denton with her husband, daughter, and cat where they can be found playing at a park, attending dance lessons, and binge-watching Peppa Pig.

Elyana Martinez, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA

Elyana Martinez currently serves as the Clinical Director for Action Care ABA. She has worked with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 2013, gaining experience across a variety of service settings including home, clinic, school and state supported living centers. She earned her Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis from Arizona State University in 2018 and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2021. Based in El Paso, Texas- a unique U.S.- Mexico border community, Elyana has a strong interest in increasing access to and dissemination of applied behavior analysis within border and underserved communities. She has been an active member of the Texas Association for Behavior Analysis (TxABA) since 2019 and is a founding member of the El Paso Special Interest Group. Through this work, she helped bring TxABA's first regional conference to El Paso in 2024, expanding professional development opportunities and collaboration in the region. Outside of her professional roles, Elyana is a proud mother of three, a perspective that further informs her commitment to ethical, family centered, and culturally responsive ABA services.

Rany Thommen Moser M.Ed., BCBA, LBA

Rany Thommen received her B.A. in Psychology from Emory University. It was here she began her work with individuals with Autism at the Emory Autism Center's Walden Early Childhood Program. She then went on to receive her Masters in Autism and Developmental Disabilities/Early Childhood from the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked for two state funded agencies and helped start the Autism Services program at Bluebonnet Trails Community Services, the first general revenue funded ABA program in Central Texas. She has worked with individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities for 25 years and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2006. In addition to teaching individuals with developmental disabilities Ms. Thommen enjoys providing parent and professional trainings. She has presented at conferences locally as well as internationally. She has presented at the Association for Behavior Analysis International conferences including Mexico, Japan, France, and Ireland. She has both presented on and hosted trainings on promoting diversity and inclusion in the field of ABA for many years. She is actively involved in public policy issues related to ABA and assisted with legislative activity during the passing of SB 589 establishing licensure for behavior analysts in Texas as well as being instrumental in passing Medicaid legislation covering ABA services for children with Autism in Texas. She was a contributing author to “The Road to Licensure of Behavior Analysts in Texas: History and Lessons Learned” in the special edition of Behavior Analysis in Practice on public policy. She also serves on the board for multiple parent and professional organizations including the President of the Autism Society of Texas and as the Past-President of the Texas Association for Behavior Analysis Public Policy Group. Ms. Thommen founded and operated ABA Today, a home and community based ABA provider in Central Texas in 2011. She currently serves as Project Manager for Texana Cafe, a non-profit restaurant in the Houston area which hires adults with autism or intellectual disabilities to gain meaningful employment skills.

Junior Student Representative

Brian Findlay MS, BCBA, LBA

Brian Findlay received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Auburn University in 2004. In 2006, received his Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from Auburn University and has been BACB-certified since 2006. Brian is currently a doctoral student in Behavior Analysis at Capella University. From 2006-2014, he spent 8 years working as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst with The Learning Tree, Inc., a private residential school for adolescents and adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. He then spent two years working with Texana Center’s Center for Children with Autism program, providing early-intensive behavioral intervention to children with autism. Since 2016, Brian has worked as Program Manager of the Center for Children with Autism at Metrocare Services in Dallas, Texas. He supervises multi-site ABA centers in Dallas County. He provides case consultation services with the Transition Support Team, which aims to assist adults with intellectual disabilities to remain in community placements. He serves on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Behavior Analyst Advisory Board, the Texas Association for Behavior Analysis (TXABA) Public Policy Group, and the TXABA Professional Issues and Development Committee. Brian’s areas of professional interest include functional communication training, reduction of challenging behaviors, assent-based care, and advocacy for greater access to ABA services for underserved populations. Brian lives in Lewisville, TX with his wife and two children.

Executive Director

Rachel Kramer MS, BCBA, LBA

Rachel Kramer began her career in behavior analysis as an undergraduate at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she worked in the Early Childhood Autism Program. She continued her education at the University of North Texas, earning her MS in Behavior Analysis in 2009. Rachel spent 11 years at the Child Study Center in Fort Worth, TX, where she started as an intern then progressed to Behavior Analyst, focusing on children with developmental disabilities and their families, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders. Her experience includes work in home, center, and school settings. Rachel's contributions to the field include publications in The Analysis of Verbal Behavior and presentations at ABAI and TxABA conferences. Her involvement with TxABA began during her graduate studies, where she volunteered at the annual conference. Since 2013, she has held several roles within the organization, including volunteer coordinator, staffing director, ACE provider, and was elected to the TxABA Executive Council as Secretary in 2015, later appointed as Secretary-Treasurer in 2018. Since November 2021, Rachel has been the Executive Director of TxABA. She is committed to advancing the field of behavior analysis and supporting its growth through her work with TxABA. She lives in Grapevine, TX with her husband and 3 kids.

Jennifer Hines PhD, BCBA, LBA

Dr. Jennifer Hines has worked in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders for over 25 years within social service agencies, school districts, government, and private practice. She has worked as a social worker, special education teacher, school behavior specialist, clinical therapist, founder, and director. She received her bachelor’s in social work from the University of Texas at Austin, her master’s in Special Education with a cognate in Autism and Emotional Disturbance from Texas State University, and a current doctoral student in Organizational Leadership at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. For 11 years, Dr. Hines was the State Neurodevelopmental Disorders Specialist for The Texas Workforce Commission, Division of Rehabilitation Services. Jennifer published the first Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) state policy on Applied Behavior Analysis. Any person served by VR with a neurodevelopmental disorder who is in need can receive ABA services in Texas. She published four additional state policies that created the first-ever Autism Endorsement for Employment Specialists, an Autism Premium, and a Vocational Assessment for Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Dr. Hines is a previous Assistant Clinical Professor in the ABA department at St. Edward’s University. Promoting and supporting the field of ABA is at the heart of professional devotion. She does this as an Executive Council member of TxABA, Chair of the TxABA Professional Issues Committee, and Chair of the TxABA Public Dissemination Committee. Dr. Hines has served as Secretary-Treasurer since August 2023.
