2024 Annual Conference Track Descriptions

Professional

The Professional Track hosts presentations on non-clinical professional issues pertaining to the application of behavior analysis. Topics can include but are not limited to, insurance/Medicaid, ethics, BACB supervision, public policy, certification, owning and running a business, licensure, and legislation updates.

This track will have presentations on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the conference. We are developing the Sunday morning professional track session to include a panel on profound autism.

NDD

The Neurodevelopmental Disorders Track hosts presentations related to research and the application of behavior analysis to autistic individuals/individuals diagnosed with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Topics include but are not limited to, behavior and reinforcer assessment methods, teaching verbal behavior, techniques for treating problem behavior, issues specific to certain populations or environments (e.g., working with children), and applied research for individuals with NDDs.

This track will have presentations on Friday and Saturday at the conference.

General

The General Track hosts presentations on any topic not covered by the other conference tracks. As such, the topics that can be covered in this track cover a board area of science and application. At the 2024 conference, topics will include client selection of their intervention experience, advances in the assessment of fear and phobias, bridging the research to practice gap in functional assessment, assessment and treatment of feeding difficulties, embedding ABA in pediatric hospital settings, a novel approach to descriptive assessment, and more!

This track will have presentations on Friday and Saturday at the conference.

Research

The Research Track hosts presentations on basic research in behavior analysis. Topics include but are not limited to, neuroscience, behavioral pharmacology, stimulus equivalence, verbal behavior, relational frame theory, delayed discounting, behavioral momentum, timing, and conceptual issues in behavior analysis.

This track will have presentations on Friday at the conference.

OBM

The Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) Track hosts presentations on behavior analysis applied in business settings and organizations. Topics include but are not limited to, performance management, health and wellness in the workplace, behavior-based safety, behavioral systems analysis, behavioral ergonomics, consumer behavior analysis, and applied OBM research.

This track will have presentations on Friday at the conference.

Presenters Include: Leslie Braksick, Denys Brand, Florence DiGennero Reed, Laura Methot, Andressa Sleiman, and Julie Smith.

Social Issues

The Social Issues Track hosts presentations on issues broadly pertaining to human welfare and culture. Topics can include but are not limited to poverty, environmental sustainability, social justice, cultural analysis (e.g., metacontingencies), and at-risk youth.

This track will have presentations on Friday at the conference.

NDD - Adults

The Neurodevelopmental Disorders- Adults Track is new to the 2023 conference. Similar to the NDD track, this track will host presentations related to research and the application of behavior analysis to autistic individuals/individuals diagnosed with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental disorders.  The track will focus on adult populations, with some applications being appropriate for adolescents.

This track will have presentations on Saturday at the conference.

Education

The Education Track hosts presentations focused on the application of behavior analysis in educational contexts to support a wide range of individuals with and without disabilities. Topics in this strand include but are not limited to instructional design, precision teaching, individual and group contingency management in classroom settings, behavior analytic research conducted in educational settings, and the implementation of ethical and culturally responsive behavior intervention in public education.

This track will have presentations on Saturday at the conference.

Niche Areas

The Niche Areas Track is new to the 2023 conference. Similar to the general track, this track will host a variety of different topics but more specifically to areas with a smaller number of behavior analysts who work in those areas. We've asked presenters to include recommendations on how to get into the area they are presenting on.

This track will have presentations on Saturday at the conference.
